Beyond Neutrality practitioners are independent consultants with their own thriving practices. Some have been nonprofit leaders with unionized staff, while others have been union leaders who negotiated with their internal staff union. They bring deep expertise in various specialties, including nonprofit management, collective bargaining, communications, human resources, leadership coaching, organization development, and change management. We find out what you need and make match you with a practitionr or a team of practitioners who can support you.
our team
Beyond Neutrality supports management of nonprofit organizations to respond to unionization in a way that is pro-union, anti-racist and mission-driven.
An employer who takes no position on whether or not their employees unionize may consider themselves “neutral.” They contrast this with the typical response by U.S. companies, which is to oppose unionization. In this environment, however, even neutrality gives the impression of being anti-union. To overcome an entrenched culture of white supremacy and union-busting, high-road organizations whose staff unionize go beyond neutrality and embrace a welcoming approach.
